The Real Problems Ants Cause
Ants can cause a range of issues in your home, from being a nuisance to creating serious hygiene concerns. The most common household ants, such as black garden ants, are attracted to sweet foods and can quickly form large trails through kitchens and food storage areas.
Once they have found the food source, they leave a scent trail for others to follow. Ants can nest within walls, under floors or in electrical equipment, potentially causing structural damage to your property and electrical faults if left untreated. Garden ants nesting outside can disturb paving, damage plants and hunt their way into your property in large numbers. Some other species of ants, such as pharaoh ants can spread harmful bacteria by crawling across bins, worktops and other household surfaces.
Ants can start as a minor inconvenience, however without professional intervention they can become a major household problem. That’s where our expert ant control services come in.

We provide a thorough inspection of your property to identify the ant species, locate ant nests and to understand how they are gaining access. The treatment works by eliminating the worker ants and disrupting the colony, often targeting the queen to stop reproduction. For nests, we treat them directly using safe insecticides that are not harmful to the environment. Facts About Ants
The Biology of Ants
Ants’ biology is surprisingly complex given how small they are. Each ant has a tough outer shell called an exoskeleton, which protects its body and helps prevent dehydration which is perfect for surviving both harsh weather conditions and also the warmth and coziness of your home. Their bodies are split into three parts: the head, thorax, and abdomen, with powerful mandibles also known as their jaw which is used for carrying food, digging tunnels, and even defending the colony when an attack occurs.
What really sets ants apart is their highly organised social structure. Most of the ants you see are sterile female workers, tirelessly gathering food and caring for the queen’s offspring. The queen’s sole job is reproduction, and she can go on to live for many years, while males only exist to mate and often die shortly afterwards.
Colonies can contain up to thousands of ants who all function like a single unit. Their efficiency is incredible. It’s this cooperation that makes them such persistent pests in homes as they show up in very large numbers.
